Heir to the Cluny monks, Mommessin has its origins in Southern Burgundy. In fact, it was at Grange Saint-Pierre, an old outbuilding of the Abbey of Cluny, that Jean-Marie Mommessin, the company founder, set up the business in 1865. The key of Grange Saint-Pierre later became our House’s emblem.
Fabre en Provence was created in 1920 by Henri Fabre Sr. in the village of Besse sur Issole. At that time the company was already selling wine from Provence and the best of France, hand selected from our ancestor. He quickly became the largest producer in the South of France.

Overlooking the Durance River near the town of Avignon, the Bonpas Charterhouse is a fortified monastery that was built by the Order of the Knights of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem in the 12th century. Its name is linked to the history of the torrential Durance River, which could only be crossed at the ford located just below the monastery. Bonpas’ name comes from the Latin bonus passus, meaning “safe crossing point”.
Bernard Magrez, born 1936, is a French wine magnate who predominantlyowns Bordeaux wine estates, including Chateau La Tour Carnet, ChateauPape Clément, Chateau Fombrauge and Clos Haut-Peyraguey but also a large number of wine producing properties in other French wine regions and other countries, including Spain, Portugal, Chile, Argentina, Japan, Morocco and California. In 2017 it was confirmed that Magrez had bought Chateau Le Sartre in Bordeaux's Pessac-Léognan.

Chapoutier produces winefrom appellations across the Rh?ne region, but it is typically their top Hermitage wines, both red and white, that receive the most attention and accolades. Chapoutier's wine labels are distinctive because of their inclusion of Braille writing on all labels since 1996.
